EcoFlow moves faster than any other brand we cover, and the engineering backs the pace: three separate models here recharge fully from the mains in an hour flat, X-Boost stretches modest inverters to run kettles and hair dryers, and the River 3 Plus carries IP54 splash protection and a 1m drop rating at a £219 price. The catch is a product line that changes so quickly the naming has stopped making sense, and two of the Amazon listings are not what they appear to be. All untangled below.

How the EcoFlow range works
Two lines, one rule of thumb. The River line is the small, carryable end: one current base unit, the 286Wh River 3 Plus, which grows by stacking batteries rather than by buying bigger boxes, plus the older 512Wh River 2 Max still on sale. The Delta line starts at 1,024Wh and runs to 2,048Wh, and this is where "Plus" matters: on a Delta, Plus means an expansion port, more solar input and a stronger inverter, not just a bigger battery.
The River ladder is where the naming needs thirty seconds of your time. Amazon's "River 3 Max" and "River 3 Max Plus" are not separate models; both are the River 3 Plus bundled with a wire-free stacking battery, an EB300 for 572Wh or an EB600 for 858Wh, and EcoFlow's own UK site uses the same names. The maths favours the bundle: the £219 base unit plus a separate £329 EB600 comes to £548, while the 858Wh Max Plus bundle was £399 at our check, a saving of around £150 if you want full capacity from day one. The trap listing is "River 3 Max Plus (Wireless)" at £539: despite the name it is the 286Wh base unit with a detachable 5,000mAh magnetic power bank, not an 858Wh station.
The Delta line has two traps of its own. First, the Delta 3 Classic, the value pick of the whole range, has no 12V output at all: no car socket, no DC barrel ports, so campervan fridges and cigarette-plug kit are out. Second, the pricing between the two 2,048Wh models has inverted: the Delta 3 Max Plus outguns the plain Delta 3 Max on every axis that matters (3,000W against 2,400W, expansion to 10kWh against none, 1,000W of solar against 500W), yet on EcoFlow's own UK store it listed £100 cheaper than the Max at our check, £1,099 against £1,199. On Amazon the Max was £999 against £1,099 for the Plus, so the £100 saving buys a much more limited machine.
Solar bundles exist across the range, from a 110W panel on the River 3 Plus to 400W on the big Deltas. Check the panel wattage against the station's solar input ceiling before assuming bigger is usable: the River units cap at 220W, the Delta 3 Classic and Delta 3 Max at 500W, and only the Max Plus takes the full 1,000W.

The 286Wh base unit is the cleverest small power station EcoFlow makes: 600W of AC output (1,200W with X-Boost), 4.7kg, a one-hour mains recharge, IP54 splash protection and a 1m drop rating. Its party trick is wire-free stacking: an EB300 battery takes it to 572Wh, an EB600 to the full 858Wh, and the extra battery adds a 140W USB-C port while it's there. At £219 at our September 2026 check it's the cheapest EcoFlow and the only one that grows without cables. River 2 Max, from £328.99
The previous-generation mid-sizer: 512Wh in one 6.1kg box with 500W of output (1,000W X-Boost) and the same one-hour mains recharge as its newer siblings. It isn't expandable, and its 30ms UPS switchover is basic backup rather than server-grade; EcoFlow's own manual says as much. At £328.99 at our check (27% off list) it makes sense if you want 512Wh in a single unit. If you'd rather build capacity in stages, the River 3 Plus ladder covers the same ground.
Delta 2, from £449
The older 1kWh Delta survives in the range for one reason: it's the only 1,024Wh EcoFlow you can expand, taking a Delta 2 or Delta Max extra battery to reach up to 3kWh. It also keeps the 12V car socket and DC ports the Delta 3 Classic dropped, with four AC sockets and 1,800W of output. The trade is an 80-minute recharge against the Classic's 60 and a £449 price against the Classic's £399 at our check. Buy it for the expansion or the 12V ports; otherwise the Classic is newer and cheaper.

The value pick of the whole range: 1,024Wh, 1,800W of output with a 3,600W surge, a 60-minute full recharge, a 10ms UPS switchover and a quoted noise ceiling of 30dB at 600W, for £399 at our September 2026 check. One omission you must check before buying: it has no 12V output at all. No car socket, no DC barrel ports, nothing, so campervan fridges and cigarette-plug kit are out, and it isn't expandable either. For mains-powered and USB kit it's the strongest sub-£400 unit EcoFlow sells.

The problem is its own sibling: the Max Plus delivers 3,000W, expands to 10kWh, takes double the solar and charges USB-C at 140W, and on EcoFlow's own UK store it listed £100 cheaper than this at our check. On Amazon the Max was £999 against £1,099 for the Plus. Buy the Max only if you're certain you'll never expand, never pass 2,400W and never run more than 500W of solar.
Delta 3 Max Plus, from £1,099
The flagship of the current range: 2,048Wh with 3,000W of output (6,000W surge), expansion to 10kWh via extra batteries, 1,000W of solar input, a 140W USB-C port and a 12.6V/30A Anderson output for van installs. EcoFlow quotes 0 to 80% in 47 minutes on mains and 96 minutes on 1,000W of solar. At £1,099 at our September 2026 check it outguns the plain Max on every axis that matters for £100 more on Amazon, and it's the Delta to buy at this size.

River or Delta: which line do you need?
Start with the heaviest thing you want to plug in. The River 3 Plus puts out 600W, stretched to 1,200W by X-Boost, which covers phones, laptops, lights, camera batteries, a projector and simple low-draw heating elements, and it does all of that at 4.7kg with IP54 splash protection. What it cannot do is run most full-size mains appliances, and no amount of stacking batteries changes that: the ladder adds hours, not watts.
The Delta 3 Classic is the crossover point. For £180 more than the River base unit you get 1,024Wh, 1,800W of real output with a 3,600W surge, and the same one-hour recharge. That is the difference between topping up devices and actually running things: a travel kettle, a microwave in a holiday let, power tools at the allotment.
So the fork is simple. Camping weekends built around devices and lights, with the option to grow capacity later: River 3 Plus, and buy the 858Wh bundle rather than the ladder if you already know you want the full capacity. Anything involving mains appliances, home backup or a 1kWh buffer you will use week in, week out: Delta 3 Classic, unless you need 12V ports or expansion, in which case the older Delta 2 at £449 is the one 1kWh EcoFlow that has both.
