I bought one of these for my wife last spring and it has been a hit ever since. Chuck it on over everything (or nothing) for instant warmth and dry. It is perfect for camping, short walks (I would not say take it hiking), dog walking and watching the kids at sports. It has huge deep pockets, not that my wife can ever find what she is looking for, but it is in there somewhere, and nice wide sleeves that go over everything. A cheap dry-robe, but perfect for muddy and wet activities.

I love these for so many things, from walking the dog to watching my son at football or a cold hike. These are literally on 90% of the dogs I see out on our daily adventures, and for good reason. They look really comfortable, with nice wide straps that adjust easily to fit your dog properly. Maple is on her second one, she finally outgrew the XXS and is now in the slightly-less-small XS. It is really easy to put on and clip in place, honestly much more impressed than the Cocopups one she had before, which seemed to rub her fur on the top. The one thing to get right as a gift is the size, so check the dog's measurements first, or keep the receipt.

I have just ordered one of these myself, after noticing how much earlier it gets dark now and how hard our dog is to see once the light goes.
